Kom deze middag langs en duik in een wereld vol taal, cultuur en creativiteit! Onze gratis workshops worden georganiseerd door verschillende taalgemeenschappen en bieden voor ieder wat wils:

• Hongaars: Knutsel je eigen rozet en speel mee met een bordspel
• Perzisch: Laat je naam sierlijk schrijven in het Farsi of knutsel een boekenlegger
• Nederlands: Geniet van een prachtig voorleesverhaal en help mee met het maken van een kleurrijke vlaggenslinger
• Portugees: Vouw een Onça Pintada origami, een symbool van Braziliaanse fauna (alleen aanwezig tussen 14.00-16.00 uur)
• Spaans: Maak een piñata of luister naar een liedjescarrousel
• Arabisch: Leer de kunst van het Arabisch schrift of knutsel een boekenlegger
• Turks: Ebru art, schilder met water
• Hindi: Kom tekenen en kleuren

En neem deel aan de speurtocht over spreekwoorden in zes verschillende talen!

Ontdek nieuwe culturen, deel verhalen en leer iets nieuws terwijl je samenkomt met anderen. Iedereen is van harte welkom, jong en oud!

Waarom deze dag?
De Internationale Dag van de Moedertaal, uitgeroepen door UNESCO, viert elk jaar op 21 februari de kracht van taalkundige en culturele diversiteit. Door onze moedertalen te koesteren, versterken we tradities, bevorderen we begrip en brengen we mensen dichter bij elkaar.

Celebrate International Mother Language Day at the Library!

Join our afternoon and dive into a world of language, culture and creativity. Our free workshops are organised by different communities and have lots of fun activities:

• Hungarian: Craft your own rosette and play a board game
• Persian: Have your name written gracefully in Farsi or craft a bookmark
• Dutch: Enjoy a beautiful story read aloud and help make a colorful flag garland
• Portuguese: Fold an Onça Pintada origami, a symbol of Brazilian fauna (only available between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.)
• Spanish: Make a piñata or listen to a song carousel
• Arabic: Learn the art of Arabic script or craft a bookmark
• Turkish: Ebru art, paint with water
• Hindi: Come draw and color

And participate in the scavenger hunt on sayings/expressions in six different languages!

Discover new cultures, share stories and learn something new while being together with others. Everyone is welcome, young and old!

Why this day?
International Mother Language Day, proclaimed by UNESCO, celebrates the power of linguistic and cultural diversity every year on February 21. By cherishing our mother tongues, we strengthen traditions, promote understanding and bring people closer together.

The membership for the Library in Eindhoven is completely free for young people. Adults only pay €19 a year for a library subscription. Being a member of the library, you can enjoy all benefits and support the library at the same time. Join us fast and easy online.
