Tijdens de DDW heeft de bibliotheek Eindhoven dit jaar haar ruimte ter beschikking gesteld aan verschillende designers uit binnen- en buitenland. Het thema waar deze expositie op is gebaseerd is duurzaamheid en natuur.

De expositie is gratis te bezoeken tijdens de openingstijden van de bibliotheek.

De projecten en designers:

Southwark Coins: In 2019 riep de Londense wijk Southwark de klimaatnoodtoestand uit. Gezien de potentiële bedreigingen van transportemissies voor het klimaat, gebruikt dit project speculatief ontwerp om een glimp op te vangen van een systeem dat helpt het gedrag van mensen te veranderen in duurzame alternatieven.

#HBL Table: De pandemie dwong scholen wereldwijd abrupt om thuisgestuurd leren (HBL) in te voeren vanwege nationale lockdowns. Chemistry ontwikkelde de #HBLTable, een in hoogte verstelbare kartonnen tafel voor kansarme gezinnen die moeite hebben om ruimte te vinden om hun kinderen thuis te laten leren. Je kunt de tafel hier zelf testen en erop tekenen. Tot en met woensdag 20 okt.

Noelle Ingeveldt: The Return of the Wolf is een crossmediale immersive experience over de terugkeer van de wolf naar Nederland. Het geanimeerde verhaal wordt verteld aan de hand van historische en actuele mediavormen die samen een, op onderzoek gebaseerd, nieuw sprookje vertellen vanuit het perspectief van de wolf. Ook geschikt voor kinderen.

Edible Seascapes: Een nieuwe, niet-uitbuitende en duurzame manier om met onze oceanen om te gaan. Het creëren van een zeewierlandbouwsysteem in de stad A Guarda om de uitdagingen te bestrijden die in kustgemeenschappen worden gecreëerd door klimaatverandering en overbevissing.

Sophie Falkeis:

First Encounters: Wat gebeurt er als twee soorten die elkaar nog nooit eerder hebben ontmoet, elkaar nu gaan tegenkomen als gevolg van antropocentrisch veranderde klimaat omstandigheden? Het onderzoek visualiseert de verstrengeling van ecosystemen op aarde met door de mens gemaakte structuren.

Het project 'Eating Death' confronteert onze menselijke sterfelijkheid met de krachten van de natuur. Als een rituele proefervaring van botanische gifstoffen creëert het project een moment van reflectie om onze machtsstructuren en relatie met de natuur opnieuw te beoordelen.

This year, during the DDW, Eindhoven library made its space available to various designers from the Netherlands and abroad. The theme on which this exhibition is based is sustainability and nature.

The exhibition is free to visit during opening hours of the library.

The projects and designers:

Southwark Coins: In 2019, the Southwark borough of London declared a climate emergency. Considering the potential threats from transport emissions on climate, this project uses speculative service design to provide a glimpse into a system that helps change peoples’ behaviour to sustainable alternatives.

#HBL Table: The COVID-19 pandemic abruptly forced schools worldwide to implement Home Based Learning (HBL) due to national lockdowns. Chemistry developed the #HBLTable, a height adjustable cardboard table for underprivileged families that struggle to find space to enable their children to learn at home.

Noelle Ingeveldt: The Return of the Wolf is a cross-media immersive experience that tells the wolf's return to the Netherlands. The animated story is told using historical and current media imagery and footage that creates a research-based new fairy tale narrated from the wolf's perspective.

Edible Seascapes: Due to the challenges faced by coastal fishing communities due to the effects of climate change and overfishing, we are forced to look for alternatives. In the town of A Guarda in Galicia, the alternative comes from taking inspiration from the past, creating an agricultural system based on seaweed.

Sophie Falkeis:

First Encounters: What happens, if two species that have never interacted before are now going to encounter due to anthropocentrically changed climatic circumstances? The investigation drafts scenarios of ‘first encounters’ to visualise the entanglements of the planet ́ s ecosystems with human-made structures.

The project 'Eating Death’ confronts our human mortality with the powers of nature. As a ritualistic tasting experience of botanical toxins the project creates a moment of reflection to reassess our power-structures and relationship to nature.
