This special Dutch Design Week edition of the workshop invites children to step into the role of young designers and city-makers. Through hands-on exploration, they imagine, design, and construct their own futuristic 3D cityscapes.

Using vibrant colors, geometric shapes, and a variety of recycled materials such as cardboard, paper tubes, bottle caps, and leftover packaging, children learn how everyday objects can be transformed into architectural elements. They explore how simple 2D forms become inventive 3D structures while discovering key concepts like balance, sustainability, and circular design, all central themes of Dutch Design Week.

By combining creativity with problem-solving and eco-conscious thinking, each child contributes to a shared vision of what tomorrow’s cities could look like: greener, smarter, and more playful. Together, they bring a future world to life — one bold, imaginative building at a time.

Dutch Design Week için tasarlanan bu atölyede çocuklar, genç tasarımcılar gibi düşünerek kendi şehirlerini tasarlayıp ve inşa edecekler. Karton, kâğıt rulo, şişe kapakları gibi geri dönüştürülmüş materyaller kullanarak iki boyutlu şekilleri, yaratıcı 3D yapılara dönüştürmeyi keşfedecekler.

Atölye boyunca çocuklar; denge, sürdürülebilirlik ve döngüsel tasarım gibi geleceğin şehirleri için önemli kavramlarla tanışırken, hayal güçlerini kullanarak özgün yapılar oluşturabilecekler.

Her çocuk, daha yeşil, daha akıllı ve daha oyun dolu bir gelecek hayal ederek kendi vizyonunu ortaya koyabilecek, bununla birlikte, yarının dünyasını renkli ve ilham verici yapılarla şekillendirebilecek.

About Workshop Instructor Meltem Karakuyu Sanguder

I’m an artist and lecturer originally from Turkey, where I spent many years working in Fine Arts education at the university level. In 2018, I moved to Prague to continue my artistic journey in my private studio, and in 2024, I relocated to Eindhoven, bringing new energy and inspiration to my work.

Over the years, I’ve participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, art fairs, and academic events. Alongside creating, I am passionate about teaching art to both children and adults. I truly enjoy helping others explore their creativity and witnessing the joy that the artistic process brings into their lives.
