The International Children's Day is celebrated by many international communities on June 1st, since it the was first proclaimed in Geneva in 1925 during the World Conference on Child Welfare.

Every child in Eindhoven is welcome to this event at the Public Library organized by the Romanian School in Eindhoven on June 1st 2024, 14:00. You can celebrate this day at the Library by joining our workshops to make balloons with stories, to draw the children rights and to make “stories with books”.

What are “stories with books”? Well, it often happens that children books and those times of shared reading with loved ones, become part of a family’s life and memories. Over time, these memories become stories themselves. We called them Book Tales. We invite you to hear the stories told by the children of the Romanian School Eindhoven -  real, family stories with children's books - and explore together the illustrations they inspired. And who knows? From this cross-cultural and cross-media interaction other stories might emerge.

The event is co-organized by the Romanian School Eindhoven in collaboration with the library “Cărți pentru Matei” from Hoofddorp.

The Romanian school in Eindhoven is a weekend school project, sustained by a group of parents and teachers from the area of Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The school is mainly addressed to Romanian children living in the Netherlands, giving them the opportunity to keep in touch with the Romanian language and culture and helping them to integrate harmoniously into their adoptive country. At the same time, the school also offers activities open to all other children in the Eindhoven region, contributing to a sense of community in the region.

The library “Carti pentru matei” is a library for children, teenagers and young people and a platform for essays, articles, reviews, and interviews.
