Onderdeel van Eindhoven Film Festival 2019

Slow Stories zijn subtiele stopmotion geanimeerde scenes die de grenzen van film en kunst verkennen. Video’s zonder begin of einde, gemonteerd in een eindeloze en naadloze loop. Dit zorgt voor vrijheid voor de kijker, het vertraagt je en creëert ruimte voor je eigen interpretatie en verbeelding.

De animaties contrasteren onze dagelijkse videoconsumptie vol met hyperactieve grootse beelden en creëren een meer intieme relatie met de kijker.

Twee werken van deze serie, bedacht en gemaakt door Niels Hoeber, worden tijdens het Eindhoven Film festival geëxposeerd in de bibliotheek:

Changing the bulb
Een kleine probleem oplossende scène, gevangen in een eindeloze loop. Wat is er nodig om een lampje te verwisselen zonder ladder? Deze situatie geeft je een kleine inkijk bij een held die deze bij elkaar geraapte toren elke keer weer zal overwinnen.

The Spectator
Een eindeloze loop van stedelijke vervreemding komt voorbij.

Slow Stories are subtle stop motion animated scenes that explore the boundaries of Film and Art. Videos without a beginning or an end, edited in an endless and seamless loop. This creates freedom for the observer, it slows you down and leaves space for your own interpretation & imagination.

By taking the animations off the grid they contrast our daily video consumption full of hyperactive eyecandy and create a more intimate relation with its observer.

Two pieces from this artwork, made by Niels Hoeber, will be presented in the library during Eindhoven Film Festival 2019:

Changing the bulb
A small problem solving scene captured in an endless loop. What's needed to change a light bulb when you don't have a ladder? This situation gives you a little insight of an hero who will defy this stacked tower at any time.

The Spectator
An endless loop of urban alienation passing by.

Friday, 29th of November, Niels will give a talk in Natlab.
